Aldergrove Bike Park Assessment – April 9, 2015

Inspection Date: April 9, 2015 Location: Aldergrove Bike Park In Attendance: Heath Mackenzie, and Dan Millsip   GENERAL ITEMS General clean-up needed. Bits of trash and debris scattered around entire site. Overall the site is in fairly good condition.   LADDER AREA All wood surfaces need power washing to remove slime that forms when wet. Section at NE end of park needs bracing as it is wobbly Teeter Totter at south side of park needs bracing/rebuilding Water pooling in some areas       PUMP TRACK Hill at the NW corner needs to be built back up. Berms at west end of park need replacing. This was supposed to have been completed by the group that held lawn mower races around the park last year.       DIRT JUMP AREA Start hill drop ladders need some repair. Broken drain pipe Ruts in dirt ramps     BMX TRACK Erosion ruts on several jumps and hills, need repair     Volunteer to give us a hand! Willoughby Bike Park Assessment – March 2015

Date: March 27, 2015 Location: Willoughby Bike Park In Attendance: Jason Grijzen, Marketa Kostrova, and Dan Millsip   GENERAL ITEMS General clean-up needed. Bits of trash and debris scattered around entire site. Large blue steel sign has been vandalized several times and should be moved to a more conspicuous location at the north west entrance to the park.   BMX TRACK Large rocks need to be removed, safety hazard Drainage Issues Ditches between runs need to be cleared Pieces of lumber need to be cleaned up/disposed of Turn at East end of track needs rebuilding     JUMP TRACK Boulders need to be removed, safety hazard Some jumps need repairing where dirt has been dug out and/or added Consider permanent jump structures constructed of wood, steel, and/or concrete, so that jumps can not be altered.   WAVE TRACK Needs power washing to remove algae buildup, safety issue   PUMP TRACK Dirt has been removed and relocated — holes need to be filled in, safety hazard Water accumulating in low spots General fixing of bumps   TRIALS AREA Wooden berm — should be removed as the lack of adequate entrance and exit prohibit proper use Build more trials structure where wooden berm is/was Some pieces of wood have been attached using deck screws which don’t adequately hold and tend to break off. Remove deck screws (applied by Township Parks staff) and replace with galvanized spiral nails. Main wood structure in Trials Area needs general repairs (minor)   SKILLS AREA Swivel Teeter Totter needs repair or removal (perhaps replace with non-swiveling teeter totter. Jason Grijzen: LMBA President 2015

We’d like to extend a warm welcome to our new LMBA President, Jason Grijzen. Jason lives in Willoughby and is the former Vice President of the LMBA.  He’s been an LMBA member since 2009 and helped to build several of the stunts in the Willoughby Park.  Jason has been riding a mountain bike since 1988 and previously worked in the mountain bike industry, building bike parts at RaceFace.
